技术领域
本发明主要涉及模制的聚合物容器,并且更具体地涉及用于制作包覆模制容器的方法,该包覆模制容器加强了对容器的抓握。
发明背景
基于聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯(PET)的聚酯由于其良好的机械性能和阻隔性能而广泛地用作容器材料。然而,由PET制成的容器通常具有硬而光滑的表面。这些表面难以抓握,且容器可能从消费者的手中滑脱,导致容器内含物溢出。当取出在低温(例如,在冰箱中)下储存的已填充的容器制品(例如,含有饮料的容器)以便在室温下使用而使得水冷凝在容器外侧上时,通常会加剧这种失去抓握。对于在潮湿环境中使用的容器,如口腔和个人护理产品(如漱口剂、洗发剂、调理剂、洗浴凝胶和身体洗剂)的容器,也会存在这种失去抓握。此外,用于家庭清洁产品的容器在人手润湿时也会损失其一些抓握能力。这些容器包括用于碗碟清洁剂以及用于瓷砖、浴盆、淋浴设备和其它硬表面清洁的那些容器。因此,十分期望改善PET容器以及其它热塑性聚合物容器的抓握能力,尤其是对于在容器外侧和/或人手在使用之前或期间润湿的情况下经常得到使用的产品容器。如本文所用,用语″可抓握的″和″抓握能力″是指人们能够稳固地保持而不会在人抓握时滑脱的容器表面的特性。
包覆模制或多组分模制已广泛用于注入模制行业。包覆模制本质上限定为通过注入模制的方式利用两种或多种基于热塑性的树脂生产成品构件的工艺。当存在两个包覆模制组分时,该技术也称为二次注入模制。包覆模制已多年来用于线缆行业,且在工业和消费品行业引起不断增加的关注。在这些行业,许多应用将软接触材料与刚性部分相结合。软接触材料提供改善的美感、较好的触觉特性以及改善的抓握能力。最广泛使用的结合软材料和刚性材料的方法是通过在诸如容器的成品表面上进行包覆模制。传统上,将软材料直接包覆模制到刚性材料上便形成了成品部分。将应期望的是,提供用以在容器正制造时将软接触材料施加到刚性容器上的技术。这是本发明的一部分。包覆模制层施加到容器预成型件上,这导致包覆模制层在吹气模制之后成为容器外部的一部分。

因此,在包装行业需要形成具有增强的抓握功能和/或其它功能的容器,以及实现这些设计特征而不会负面地影响PET或其它热塑性再循环流。此外,在包装行业还需要以成本效益合算的工艺形成这种容器。
发明内容
提供了用于制作包覆模制容器的方法。包覆模制容器有利地提供了增强的抓握能力以及视觉和触觉特性,从而实现创新的包装设计。该制造方法以成本效益合算的方式实现了这些容器优点,同时对材料再循环流不会影响或极小限度地影响。
一方面,制作容器的方法包括以下步骤:提供容器的预成型件,该预成型件包括热塑性聚合物;在待包含抓握部的预成型件的至少一部分上包覆模制弹性体包覆模制材料;在模具中将预成型件定向为使得包覆模制区段邻近模具的抓握部区域;以及吹气模制该包覆模制预成型件,以便形成具有利用弹性体材料包覆模制的容器抓握部的包覆模制容器。在一个优选实施例中,包覆模制容器为饮料容器。在另一优选实施例中,该容器为漱口剂、身体洗剂、洗浴凝胶、洗发剂或碗碟清洁剂的容器中的任何一种。
预成型件可由多种热塑性聚合物制成。在一个实施例中,热塑性聚合物包括一种或多种聚酯。在优选实施例中,热塑性聚合物为或包括聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯共聚物。
包覆模制材料选择为可在与吹气模制工艺相容的温度和压力下进行处理,以便该包覆模制材料能够与预成型件一致地(或顺应地)延展,以及呈所产生的吹气模制容器的形状。在一个实施例中,包覆模制材料包括热塑性弹性体。适合的包覆模制材料的实例包括聚烯烃弹性体、聚烯烃塑性体、改性聚烯烃弹性体、改性聚烯烃塑性体、热塑性氨基甲酸乙酯弹性体、嵌段共聚物、弹性体混合物和它们的组合。嵌段共聚物包括苯乙烯、共聚酯、聚氨酯、聚酰胺、聚烯烃混合物和聚烯烃合金。
在一种模式中,包覆模制材料具有小于1.00g/cc(克/立方厘米)的密度,这可能有助于热塑性聚合物的最终再循环,例如,通过依赖于热塑性聚合物与包覆模制材料之间的密度差的水沉浮操作。

图3为用于在容器的前表面和侧表面上提供抓握部的预成型件。该预成型件具有上部32和下部38。上部具有螺纹34、帽盖密封凸缘35和传送凸缘36。在预成型件上具有包覆模制层40。该预成型件进行吹气模制以形成图4A中的容器42。图4A中示出了容器的前视图。该容器具有带螺纹34的颈部32、帽盖密封凸缘35和传送凸缘36。容器本体37具有底表面49和带标签区域41(a)的前表面39(a)。容器本体的上部具有包覆模制层40和在容器前表面39(a)中的抓握凹部区域45(a)。侧壁44和46中也分别具有抓握凹部47和48。包覆模制层的厚度将与图1中的预成型件相同。然而,在该实施例中,包覆模制层将覆盖预成型件下部38的上方区域。当容器通过吹气模制形成时,包覆模制层40将覆盖容器前表面39(a)的上部。图4B示出了图4A中的容器的后视图。具有带标签区域41(b)的容器后表面39(b)和凹部抓握区域45(b)。否则,容器后视图便与图4A的前视图基本上相同。
图5示出了具有带螺纹54、帽盖凸缘55和传送凸缘56的上部52的预成型件50。预成型件的下部58具有包覆模制层60。该包覆模制层将具有类似于图1中的包覆模制层厚度的厚度。它将具有足够的厚度,以便在吹气模制预成型件而形成容器时覆盖容器的下部。图6中示出了由该预成型件50吹气模制的容器。吹气模制的容器62具有肩部63和颈部52。颈部52具有螺纹54、帽盖凸缘55和传送凸缘56。容器62的容器本体57具有前表面69和底表面67。容器表面69的上部具有标签区域59。容器本体57的下部具有在侧表面66上的侧抓握部64(a)、64(b)和64(c),以及在侧表面68上的侧抓握部65(a)、65(b)和65(c)。在前表面57上还具有凹入的抓握区域70。在分配瓶中的内含物期间,将在容器的下部上抓握该容器。
图7示出了具有圆形截面的容器72。该容器为使用图1中的预成型件吹气模制而成。该预成型件放置在具有模腔的模具中,该模具具有截面为圆形的内表面,其为该图7中的容器的阴模(negative)结构。该容器具有肩部74、带螺纹14的颈部12、帽盖凸缘15和传送凸缘16。容器具有本体75、本体表面76和底表面78。抓握部71(a)/71(b)和73(a)/73(b)分开大约180度。抓握部71(a)/71(b)具有包覆模制覆盖层20(a),而抓握部73(a)/73(b)具有包覆模制覆盖层20(b)。图8为朝向容器底部78观察的图7中的容器沿容器本体75的线8-8所截取的截面。其中示出了具有包覆模制覆盖层20(a)和20(b)的圆形本体表面76。基本上仅抓握部具有包覆模制层,而容器的其余部分可用于贴标签。当保持住容器时,且尤其是在从容器中分配产品时,人们将使用这些包覆模制的抓握部来抓握容器。
待具有一体模制的抓握部的任何形状的容器基本上都可使用本工艺制作。该工艺不限于任何特定形状的容器。这些可为椭圆的,直至从三角形到八角形以及其它的多边形的。此外,当为多边形时,侧部不必为相等的长度,而容器也不必为对称的。
美国申请No.11/307,700中描述了制作包覆模制预成型件的工艺。首先,提供能够包覆模制的适合的预成型件。然后,利用弹性体材料包覆模制该预成型件,例如,使用公知的注入模制技术,该弹性体包覆模制材料注入模制到预成型件的表面上,从而形成包覆模制的预成型件。接下来,对包覆模制的预成型件进行吹气模制,例如,使用延展吹气模制。预成型件和吹气模制容器的非包覆模制表面将具有小于1的摩擦系数(COF),且通常为大约0.2至0.8。预成型件和容器的包覆模制表面将具有大于1的COF,且通常大于1.5。
预成型件可由多种热塑性聚合物制成。在一个实施例中,热塑性聚合物包括一种或多种聚酯。在一个实施例中,热塑性聚合物包括聚丙烯。在优选实施例中,热塑性聚合物为或包括聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯共聚物。适合的聚酯包括PET共聚物、聚萘二甲酸乙二醇酯(PEN)、聚间苯二甲酸乙二酯、乙二醇改性非结晶PET共聚物(商业上称为PETG)、二酸改性非结晶PET等。PET共聚物特别有用,因为它们可用于许多容器应用。如本文所用,″PET共聚物″是指包括具有源自乙二醇的重复单元的二醇成分和具有源自对苯二甲酸的重复单元的二酸成分的那些合成物。期望的是,在一些实施例中,PET共聚物具有小于20%的二酸成分变体和/或小于10%的二醇成分变体,这是基于100摩尔%的二酸成分和100摩尔%的二醇成分。这些PET共聚物是公知的。
可选的是,可使用多层预成型件。例如,预成型件可包括如本领域中所公知的3层或5层结构。在3层预成型件结构的一个实施例中,中间层为阻隔层,产品接触层和外层为聚酯层。在5层预成型件结构的一个实施例中,内层和外层均为未用过的聚酯层,第二层和第四层为再循环(或再生)的PET层,而第三层为阻隔层。
由包覆模制材料覆盖的预成型件表面的总量是可变的,例如,取决于所制作的容器的特定设计以及抓握部的尺寸、数目和布置。目的在于包覆模制抓握部区域,而留下尽可能多的空间用于贴标签以及容器的装饰。
用语″热塑性弹性体″包括如本领域中所公知的那些弹性体、塑性体、改性弹性体和改性塑性体、嵌段共聚物、混合物和合金。可结合常规注入模制设备使用的适合的热塑性弹性体的代表性实例包括聚烯烃弹性体(例如,乙丙橡胶)、聚烯烃塑性体、改性聚烯烃弹性体(如,乙烯、丙烯和苯乙烯的三元聚合物)、改性聚烯烃塑性体、热塑性氨基甲酸乙酯弹性体、丙烯酸-烯烃共聚物弹性体、聚酯弹性体,以及它们的组合。市售的包覆模制材料的具体但非限制性的实例包括Dow Chemical Company的VERSIFYTM塑性体和AffinityTM弹性体;DSM的SarlinkTM和VersalloyTM;GLS Corporation的DynaflexTM、KratonTM和VersaflexTM;Exxon Mobil的SantopreneTM;Uniprene;Tekbond;Elexar;Monprene;Teknor Apex的Tekron;等。Batistini在Macromol.Symp.100:137-42(1995)中进一步描述了这些材料中的一些。
期望的是,热塑性弹性体具有小于1.00g/cc的密度。这可有助于热塑性聚合物和/或包覆模制材料的分离和再循环。包覆模制容器上的包覆模制材料层具有大约0.05mm至5mm的厚度,优选为从大约0.1mm至大约3mm。期望的是,热塑性弹性体具有小于邵氏硬度D45、优选为小于邵氏硬度D30的柔软度/硬度。
包覆模制材料可包括一种或多种添加剂。可能的添加剂的实例包括如本领域中所公知的颜料和其它着色剂、UV阻断剂、润滑剂或增滑剂、加工助剂、抗氧化剂、抗微生物添加剂和热稳定剂,以及它们的组合。在一个实施例中,添加增滑剂以改善制造工艺线中(例如,空气输送机中)存在的容器与容器的摩擦。在另一实施例中,包覆模制材料可包括具有用以改善包覆模制层与下方的热塑性层之间的粘合(如果希望的话)的功能基团的化合物。
总的来说,本发明的实施例可利用吹气模制进行制作。吹气模制的各种方法是公知的。在优选实施例中,吹气模制工艺包括本领域中所公知的预成型件再加热延展吹气模制工艺。此工艺包括:提供预成型件,该预成型件具有有选择地位于预成型件上以符合(或顺应)期望的吹气模制容器的至少一个抓握部区域的弹性体层;加热该预成型件以软化该热塑性预成型件;提供具有模腔的模具,该模具在其内表面上具有处于模腔内表面中的至少一个抓握部区域的阴模;使预成型件在模腔中定向成使得弹性体层邻近该至少一个抓握部区域的阴模;将气体注入预成型件中以将预成型件壁吹到模腔表面上,由此使预成型件的弹性体层将接触处于模腔表面上的该至少一个抓握部区域的阴模,以便形成具有包含弹性体层的抓握部区域的吹气模制容器。存在市售的设备用以吹气模制容器。
可制作出很多种包覆模制、吹气模制的容器。包覆模制容器基本上可用于任何食物、饮料、个人护理用品、家用护理用品或药品。适合类型的包覆模制容器的代表性实例包括容器、罐、圆桶、玻璃水瓶、冷却装置等。
Claims (20)
1.一种具有改进的抓握部的吹气模制容器,包括:具有容器本体和容器分配出口的吹气模制容器,所述容器本体具有至少一个抓握区域,所述至少一个抓握区域利用弹性体包覆模制以形成具有包含所述弹性体层的抓握区域的吹气模制容器,所述弹性体的摩擦系数大于所述容器的表面的摩擦系数。
2.根据权利要求1所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述容器本体具有前表面、后表面,以及将所述前表面连接到所述后表面上的右侧表面和左侧表面,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面中的至少一个的至少一部分具有抓握部区域,所述抓握部区域具有所述弹性体层。
3.根据权利要求2所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面分别具有抓握部区域,各抓握部区域的至少一部分具有所述弹性体层。
4.根据权利要求2所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面中的至少一个具有抓握部区域,整个所述抓握部区域都具有所述弹性体层。
5.根据权利要求4所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面分别具有抓握部区域,整个所述抓握部区域都具有所述弹性体层。
6.根据权利要求1所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述容器本体具有前表面、后表面,以及将所述前表面连接到所述后表面上的右侧表面和左侧表面,所述前表面和所述左后表面中的至少一个的至少一部分具有抓握部区域,所述抓握部区域具有所述弹性体层。
7.根据权利要求6所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述前表面和所述后表面分别具有抓握部区域,各抓握部区域中的至少一部分具有所述弹性体层。
8.根据权利要求6所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述前表面和所述后表面中的至少一个具有抓握部区域,整个所述抓握部区域都具有所述弹性体层。
9.根据权利要求8所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述前表面和所述后表面分别具有抓握部区域,整个抓握部结构都具有所述弹性体层。
10.根据权利要求1所述的吹气模制容器,其特征在于,所述容器为圆柱形,且具有至少一个抓握部区域,所述弹性体层仅在所述至少一个抓握部区域上。
11.一种制作具有改进的抓握部的吹气模制容器的方法,所述容器具有至少一个抓握部区域,所述至少一个抓握部区域利用弹性体包覆模制,所述方法包括:提供预成型件,所述预成型件具有有选择地在所述预成型件上以符合所述吹气模制容器的至少一个抓握部区域的弹性体层;提供具有模腔的模具,所述模具在其内表面上具有在模腔内表面中的所述至少一个抓握部区域的阴模;在所述模腔中将所述预成型件定向成使得所述弹性体层邻近所述至少一个抓握部区域的阴模;将气体注入所述预成型件以将所述预成型件的壁吹到所述模腔的表面上,由此,所述预成型件的弹性体层将接触所述模腔表面上的所述至少一个抓握部区域的阴模,以形成具有包含所述弹性体层的所述抓握部区域的吹气模制容器,所述弹性体具有大于所述容器的表面的摩擦系数。
12.根据权利要求11所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述容器本体具有前表面、后表面,以及将所述前表面连接到所述后表面上的右侧表面和左侧表面,所述模腔具有为所述容器本体的阴模的表面,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面中的至少一个的至少一部分具有抓握部区域,所述抓握部区域具有所述弹性体层。
13.根据权利要求12所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面分别具有抓握部区域,各抓握部区域的至少一部分具有所述弹性体层。
14.根据权利要求11所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面中的至少一个具有抓握部区域,整个所述抓握部区域都具有所述弹性体层。
15.根据权利要求13所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述右侧表面和所述左侧表面分别具有抓握部区域,整个所述抓握部区域都具有所述弹性体层。
16.根据权利要求11所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述容器本体具有前表面、后表面,以及将所述前表面连接到所述后表面上的右侧表面和左侧表面,所述前表面和所述左后表面中的至少一个的至少一部分具有抓握部区域,所述抓握部区域具有所述弹性体层。
17.根据权利要求16所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述前表面和所述后表面分别具有抓握部区域,各抓握部区域的至少一部分具有所述弹性体层。
18.根据权利要求15所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述前表面和所述后表面中的至少一个具有抓握部区域,整个所述抓握部区域都具有所述弹性体层。
19.根据权利要求11所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,所述容器具有圆柱形截面,且具有至少一个抓握部区域,仅所述至少一个抓握部区域具有所述弹性体层。
20.根据权利要求19所述的制作吹气模制容器的方法,其特征在于,存在两个抓握部区域,仅所述两个抓握部区域具有弹性体层。
