Abstract

Description

用于从合成气发酵过程发电的系统
本申请要求都于2011年4月6日提交的美国临时申请号61/516,667、61/516,704和61/516,646的权益,并且所有临时申请以其全文通过引用并入本文。
本发明提供了一种用于从合成气发酵过程发电的系统和方法。更具体来说,本发明提供了一种从合成气的气化和发酵产生高压蒸汽的方法。
背景技术
微生物可以通过气态底物的发酵从一氧化碳(CO)生产乙醇和其他化合物。CO通常作为合成气形式的气态底物的一部分而被提供给发酵。将含碳材料气化以生产包含一氧化碳和氢气的发生炉气体或合成气体或合成气,在本领域中是公知的。这样的气化过程通常包括含碳材料的部分氧化或贫空气氧化,其中向气化过程供应低于化学计算量的氧气以促进一氧化碳的产生。
通过本领域中描述的气化过程生产的合成气可能是热的,并且在下游加工和随后的发酵之前需要冷却。包含气化装置中产生的一氧化碳的热合成气,在气化装置下游的热交换器或废热锅炉中被冷却,参见例如美国专利号6,435,139、美国专利号7,587,995和美国专利号7,552,701。热合成气的这种热含量的回收和使用,对于过程经济学来说可能是非常重要的。
发明内容
本发明提供了一种从合成气发酵过程有效地产生高压蒸汽的方法和装置。所述方法包括将温度高于约1400℉的热合成气与冷却的合成气相接触,以产生在废热锅炉的入口处具有1400℉或更低的温度的预先冷却的合成气。废热锅炉接收所述预先冷却的合成气并有效地产生废热锅炉高压蒸汽和冷却的合成气。

在另一种情况下,本发明提供了一种用于从合成气发酵过程产生高压蒸汽的方法。所述方法包括在气化器中燃烧含碳材料以形成温度高于约1400℉的热合成气,以及将所述合成气预先冷却,以产生在废热锅炉的入口处具有1400℉或更低的平均温度的预先冷却的合成气。废热锅炉接收所述预先冷却的合成气并有效地产生废热锅炉高压蒸汽和冷却的合成气。发酵罐接收冷却的合成气。尾气燃烧器从发酵罐的出口接收贫合成气,并且所述尾气燃烧器有效地产生热尾气锅炉气体。尾气锅炉过热器接收热尾气燃烧器气体和废热锅炉高压蒸汽,并产生合并的高压蒸汽。

本文描述的方法和系统有效地将在合成气的气化和发酵期间产生的热转变成高压蒸汽,用于发电。所述方法和系统提供了超过整个系统所需要的电力的过量电力。
定义
除非另有定义,否则在本公开的整个本说明书中使用的下列术语如下所定义,并且可以包括下面所限定的定义的单数或复数形式:
修饰任何量的术语“约”是指所述量在真实世界条件下,例如在实验室、中试厂或生产设施中遇到的变差。例如,当被“约”修饰时,混合物或参量中采用的成分或测量结果的量包括在生产厂或实验室中的实验条件下测量时的变差和通常所采用的关注程度。例如,当被“约”修饰时,产物组分的量包括在工厂或实验室的多次实验中不同批次之间的变差以及分析方法所固有的变差。不论是否被“约”修饰,量包括所述量的等效值。本文中所陈述的并被“约”修饰的任何数量也可以作为未被“约”修饰的量用于本公开中。

术语“软纤维”(fibersoft或Fibersoft或fibrosoft或fibrousoft)是指由于各种物质的软化和浓缩而产生的一种类型的含碳材料;在一个实例中,含碳材料通过各种物质的蒸气压热处理来生产。在另一个实例中,软纤维可以包括市政、工业、商业和医疗废物的蒸气压热处理产生的纤维质糊状材料。
术语“市政固体废物”或“MSW”或“msw”是指可以包含家庭、商业、工业和/或残余废物的废物。
术语“合成气”或“合成气体”是指合成气体,这是给予含有不同量一氧化碳和氢气的气体混合物的名称。生产方法的实例包括天然气或烃的蒸汽重整以产生氢气,煤的气化以及在某些类型的废物变能源的气化设施中。该名称来自于它们在产生合成天然气(SNG)的过程中作为中间体和用于生产氨或甲醇的用途。合成气是可燃烧的,并且通常被用作燃料源或作为中间体用于生产其他化学品。
在一种情况下,含碳材料的气化提供合成气。气化包括生物质在氧气供应受限的条件下的部分燃烧。得到的气体包括CO和H2。在这种情况下,所述合成气含有至少约20摩尔%的CO,在一种情况下,约20至约100摩尔%的CO,在另一种情况下,约30至约90摩尔%的CO,在另一种情况下,约40至约80摩尔%的CO,并且在另一种情况下,约50至约70摩尔%的CO。所述合成气具有至少约0.75的CO/CO2摩尔比。系列号61/516,667、61/516,704和61/516,646描述了适合的气化方法和装置的一些实例(美国系列号61/516,667、61/516,704和61/516,646,其全都在2011年4月6日提交,并且它们全部通过引用并入本文)。离开气化器的合成气具有高于约1400℉,并且在另一种情况下为至少约1400℉至约3500℉的温度。气化过程有效地破坏焦油。
术语“发酵”、“发酵过程”或“发酵反应”等旨在涵盖该过程的生长阶段和产物生物合成阶段两者。在一种情况下,发酵是指将CO转化成醇。
高压蒸汽系统
图1示出了用于产生高压蒸汽的系统。如图1中所示,所述方法和系统通过将离开气化器(未示出)的热合成气110与再循环的冷却合成气掺混,来提供掺混的合成气120。再循环的冷却合成气140与离开气化器后的热合成气110相接触。再循环的冷却合成气140在热合成气离开气化器之后和掺混的合成气120进入废热锅炉100之前的点处与热合成气110相接触。在这种情况下,再循环的冷却合成气140具有约350℉至约450℉的温度。导管或管道将再循环的冷却合成气140转移到热合成气110。再循环的冷却合成气140的转移提供了约0.1比约20的再循环的冷却合成气140与热合成气的比率。在其他情况下,再循环的冷却合成气与热合成气的比率可以包括约1比约15、约1比约10、约1比约5、约1比约4、约1比约3、约1比约2和约1比约1。
掺混的合成气120具有约1400℉或更低的平均温度,在另一种情况下约600℉至约1400℉,在另一种情况下约750℉至约1400℉,在另一种情况下约600℉至约1400℉,在另一种情况下约750℉至约1200℉,在另一种情况下约750℉至约900℉,在另一种情况下约750℉至约825℉,并且在另一种情况下约600℉至约900℉。掺混的合成气120在进入废热锅炉100之前达到这些温度。在这种情况下,在进入废热锅炉100之前,热电偶测量废热锅炉入口处的温度。热电偶可以放置在横跨入口直径的任何位置处。
当在本文中使用时,“平均温度”是指用于测定横跨直径的多个温度,然后将那些多个温度测量值表示成平均值的已知方法。在一种情况下,可以使用计算机建模来提供平均温度。在其他情况下,可以使用所装备的用于这样的测量的热电偶、红外感应等来测量多个温度。
当在本文中使用时,术语“焦油”包括但不限于气体焦油、液体焦油、固体焦油、形成焦油的物质或其混合物,其一般包含烃及其衍生物。存在大量公知的可用于测量焦油的焦油测量方法。一大类技术包括基于与检测器偶联的液相或气相色谱的分析方法。在测量焦油的情况下,最常用的检测器是火焰电离检测器(FID)和质谱仪。另一类技术包括光谱测量方法,其包括检测和分析光谱。其实例是红外、紫外(UV)或发光光谱法和LIBS(激光诱导击穿光谱法)技术。用于监测燃烧气体的另一种技术是FTIR(傅里叶变换红外)红外光谱术。各种各样的文献提到了这种技术,例如WO2006015660、WO03060480和美国专利号5,984,998。
还存在允许连续监测焦油的其他已知电子学方法。这些技术包括具有电化学池的检测器和具有半导体的传感器。各种重量分析技术也可用于测量焦油。在一种情况下,焦油量可以表示成碳的当量ppm。在这种情况下,烃可以是苯或醇例如甲醇。在这种情况下,焦油浓度当量或焦油当量最优选地对应于苯的当量ppm(摩尔浓度)。焦油浓度可有用地在气化装置的出口处以及在合成气的任何显著冷却的上游处进行测量。
如图1中进一步所示,所述方法和系统向废热锅炉100提供掺混的合成气120。废热锅炉100可以是能够有效地提供来自于掺混的合成气120的热转移的任何已知类型的废热锅炉。在这种情况下,废热锅炉100接收水/蒸汽160,并且废热锅炉有效地提供冷却的合成气130和废热锅炉高压蒸汽170。在这种情况下,废热锅炉高压蒸汽170具有约50psig至约950psig的压力。所述方法和系统包括将来自于废热锅炉100的冷却的合成气130的一部分140再循环到热合成气110。发酵罐接收冷却的合成气130,即未再循环的150。
尾气燃烧器200接收来自于发酵罐的贫合成气210或废气。贫合成气210通常具有低于约1.0,在另一种情况下约0.01至约1.0,在另一种情况下约0.01至约0.5,并且在另一种情况下约0.01至约0.1的CO/CO2比率。在发酵罐中CO转化率较低的情况下,贫合成气可以具有更高的CO浓度。在这种情况下,贫合成气210或废气可以具有高于约0.1的CO/CO2摩尔比。尾气燃烧器200燃烧贫合成气210。向尾气燃烧器200转移空气220可以增强燃烧。尾气燃烧器200可以包括本领域中已知的任何尾气燃烧器。尾气燃烧器200提供热尾气燃烧器气体230。在这种情况下,尾气燃烧器气体具有约1500℉至约3000℉的温度。
尾气锅炉过热器300接收热尾气燃烧器气体230。尾气锅炉过热器可以包括本领域中已知的任何尾气锅炉过热器。尾气锅炉过热器300接收水/蒸汽310,并且尾气锅炉过热器300提供冷却的尾气锅炉气体320和尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330。在这种情况下,尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330具有约600psig至约950psig,并且在另一种情况下约875psig至约925psig的压力。在蒸汽掺混器180中将尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330和废热锅炉高压蒸汽170合并。蒸汽掺混器180提供合并的高压蒸汽400,所述合并的高压蒸汽400具有约600psig至约950psig,并且在另一种情况下约875psig至约925psig的压力。合并的高压蒸汽400被用于发电。可用于从高压蒸汽发电的设备的实例包括本领域中已知的,例如蒸汽涡轮机。在这种情况下,将蒸汽压力从约600psig提高至约900psig将引起净电力增加。
在另一种情况下,所述系统可以在废热锅炉100与蒸汽掺混器180之间以及尾气锅炉过热器300与蒸汽掺混器180之间包括蒸汽鼓(未示出)。
废热锅炉的可选构造被示出在图2A中。这种情况包括废热锅炉100和废热锅炉预热器101(也称为节能器)两者。如图2A中所示,所述方法和系统通过将离开气化器(未示出)的热合成气110与再循环的冷却合成气140掺混,来提供掺混的合成气120。正如本文中所述,含碳材料的气化可以提供合成气。合成气含有至少约20摩尔%的CO,并具有高于约1400℉的温度。废热锅炉100提供半冷却的合成气125。在这种情况下,半冷却的合成气125具有约500℉至约750℉的温度。
废热锅炉预热器101接收半冷却的合成气125。废热锅炉预热器101接收水/蒸汽160并提供冷却的合成气130和预热的水/蒸汽165。所述方法和系统包括将来自于废热锅炉预热器101的冷却的合成气130的一部分140再循环到热合成气110。发酵罐接收冷却的合成气130,即未再循环的150。废热锅炉100接收来自于废热锅炉预热器101的预热的水/蒸汽165。废热锅炉100有效地提供冷却的合成气130和废热锅炉高压蒸汽170。
在如图2B中所示的另一种情况下,所述方法和系统包括将来自于废热锅炉100的半冷却的合成气125的一部分再循环到热合成气110。废热锅炉预热器101接收一部分未再循环的半冷却的合成气126。在另一种情况下,如图2A和2B中所示的构造可以包括蒸汽鼓(未示出)。蒸汽鼓可以被放置成接收预热的水/蒸汽165。
图3示出了尾气锅炉过热器系统的可选构造。在这种情况下,尾气锅炉过热器300接收热尾气燃烧器气体230。尾气锅炉过热器300接收预热的蒸汽312并提供尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330和半冷却的尾气锅炉气体322。在这种情况下,尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330具有约600psig至约950psig的压力,并且半冷却的尾气锅炉气体322具有约2000℉至约2500℉的温度。在一种情况下,尾气锅炉蒸汽发生器301接收半冷却的尾气锅炉气体322。尾气锅炉蒸汽发生器301接收预热的水/蒸汽311并提供预热的蒸汽312和半冷却的尾气锅炉气体321。在另一种情况下,尾气锅炉进料水预热器302接收半冷却的尾气锅炉气体321。尾气锅炉进料水预热器302接收水/蒸汽310并提供预热的水/蒸汽311和冷却的尾气锅炉气体320。在另一种情况下,图3中所示的构造可以包括蒸汽鼓(未示出),所述蒸汽鼓被放置成接收预热的蒸汽331并可以提供水/蒸汽310。
图4示出了用于产生高压蒸汽的系统的另一种情况。如图4中所示,尾气锅炉过热器300接收热尾气燃烧器气体230。尾气锅炉过热器300接收预热的蒸汽312并提供尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330和半冷却的尾气锅炉气体322。在这种情况下,通过将废热锅炉高压蒸汽170与来自于尾气锅炉蒸汽发生器的预热的蒸汽331掺混,来提供预热的蒸汽312。得到的尾气锅炉高压蒸汽330具有约600psig至约950psig的压力。图4中所示的构造也可以包括蒸汽鼓(未示出),所述蒸汽鼓被放置成接收预热的蒸汽331。
在一种情况下,尾气燃烧器气体具有约1500℉至约3000℉的温度。尾气锅炉过热器300也接收废热锅炉高压蒸汽170。尾气锅炉过热器300接收水/蒸汽310,并且尾气锅炉过热器300提供冷却的尾气锅炉气体320和压力为约600psig至约950psig的合并的高压蒸汽400。合并的高压蒸汽400被用于发电。在这种情况下,在过度加热之前将废热锅炉蒸汽与尾气锅炉蒸汽混合而不是在尾气锅炉蒸汽已被过度加热之后混合废热锅炉蒸汽,将导致净电力增加。
实施例
实施例1:合成气冷却器入口温度对热转移和结垢的影响
使用下面描述的温度和流速来运行具有本文中描述的设计的气化器。如下所示确定了结垢因子。
600℉的合成气冷却器入口温度下的结垢因子:
600℉入口下的平均结垢因子为0.019Btu/(ft2h℉)。
使用下面描述的较低合成气冷却器入口温度和流速来运行具有本文中描述的设计的气化器。如下所示确定了结垢因子。
1300℉的合成气冷却器入口温度下的结垢因子:
1300℉入口下的平均结垢因子为0.078Btu/(ft2h℉)。

Claims (34)

1.用于从合成气发酵过程产生高压蒸汽的方法,所述方法包括:将温度高于约1400℉的热合成气与冷却的合成气相接触,以产生在废热锅炉的入口处温度为1400℉或更低的预先冷却的合成气;以及将所述预先冷却的合成气转移到所述废热锅炉,所述废热锅炉有效地产生废热锅炉高压蒸汽和冷却的合成气。
2.权利要求1的方法,其还包括将贫合成气转移到尾气燃烧器,所述尾气燃烧器有效地产生热尾气燃烧器气体;将所述热尾气燃烧器气体转移到尾气锅炉过热器,所述尾气锅炉过热器有效地产生尾气锅炉高压蒸汽;以及
将所述废热锅炉高压蒸汽与尾气锅炉高压蒸汽合并,以形成合并的高压蒸汽。
3.权利要求1的方法,其中热合成气通过与温度为约350℉至约450℉的冷却的再循环合成气进行掺混来冷却。
4.权利要求3的方法,其中将再循环的冷却合成气与所述热合成气以约0.1至约20的比率进行掺混。
5.权利要求1的方法,其中所述预先冷却的合成气的温度为约600℉至约1400℉。

22.权利要求21的方法,其中合成气通过与温度为约350℉至约450℉的冷却的再循环合成气进行掺混来冷却。
23.权利要求22的方法,其中将再循环的冷却合成气与热合成气以约0.1至约20的比率进行掺混。
24.权利要求21的方法,其中所述预先冷却的合成气在所述废热锅炉的入口处的温度为约600℉至约1400℉。
25.权利要求24的方法,其中所述预先冷却的合成气在所述废热锅炉的入口处的温度为约600℉至约900℉。
26.权利要求21的方法,其中所述废热锅炉高压蒸汽的压力为约50psig至约950psig。
27.权利要求21的方法,其中尾气燃烧器气体的温度为约1500℉至约3000℉。
28.权利要求21的方法,其中所述合并的高压蒸汽的压力为约600psig至约950psig。
29.权利要求21的方法,其中将预热的水和/或蒸汽从废热锅炉预热器供应到所述废热锅炉。
30.权利要求21的方法,其中所述合并的高压蒸汽被用于发电。
31.用于从合成气发酵过程产生高压蒸汽的方法,所述方法包括将温度高于约1400℉并且焦油浓度当量含量低于10ppm的热合成气转移到废热锅炉,所述废热锅炉有效地产生废热锅炉高压蒸汽和冷却的合成气。
32.用于从合成气发酵过程产生高压蒸汽的方法,所述方法包括:
在气化器中燃烧含碳材料以形成温度高于约1400℉并且焦油浓度当量含量低于10ppm的热合成气;
将所述合成气转移到废热锅炉,所述废热锅炉有效地产生废热锅炉高压蒸汽和冷却的合成气;
将冷却的合成气导入到发酵罐中;
将贫合成气从所述发酵罐的出口转移到尾气燃烧器,所述尾气燃烧器有效地产生热尾气锅炉气体;以及
将热尾气燃烧器气体和废热锅炉高压蒸汽转移到尾气锅炉过热器,所述尾气锅炉过热器有效地产生合并的高压蒸汽。
33.权利要求32的方法,其中所述贫合成气的CO/CO2摩尔比低于约1.0。
34.权利要求32的方法,其中所述贫合成气的CO/CO2摩尔比低于约0.5。
