Abstract
A crude oil with improved flow properties consists of a paraffinic crude contg. a polymer which contains heterocyclic rings and is not 10C hydrocarbon side-chains. The flow props. of the crude oil are improved at both high and low rates of cooling, e.g. at the low cooling rates which occur in pipelines. The polymer is used to facilitate the transport of paraffinic crude through pipelines or in tankers; it may also be injected into boreholes to facilitate the recovery of oil from underground formations.
