Description

Dry lubricant for the wheel flange lubrication of rail vehicles. To reduce the wheel flange wear on rail vehicles and the head of the track rails, especially in curves, it has already been proposed to accommodate solid lubricant in the form of a rod in a guide and to press permanently or temporarily onto the flange of the vehicle wheels by means of a spring-loaded piston. Known dry lubricating bodies without a stable shell who are worn out so quickly, especially when the vehicle wheels are warmed th bandages, that they are often not sufficient until the end of long journeys and, if the lubricating body is not replaced in time, the lubrication does not take place.
In contrast, the dry lubricant body according to the invention for the wheel flange lubrication of rail vehicles proves to be very economical and reliable. It is characterized by a rod-shaped hollow body made of temperature and dimensionally stable material that can be worn by friction on the wheel flange, which hollow body is filled with a dry lubricant.
<I> Example: </I> A rod-shaped hollow body made of soapstone with a square outline and a cylindrical bore is filled with a dry lubricant consisting of a mixture of

<tb> <B> 100-150 </B> <SEP> graphite
<tb> 40-400 <SEP> "<SEP> soapstone powder
<tb> (talc) For use, such a lubricating body is placed in a holder (or a guide) which is arranged in a known manner on the axle box or chassis of a rail vehicle,
housed and preferably pressed by a spring or a weight with veränder Lichem pressure on the flange of individual wheels of a rail vehicle. The soapstone shell is worn out by the friction, and at the same time, the same amount of dry lubricant is released to the wheel flange. The soapstone sleeve, however, prevents the dry lubricating compound from being given more than a very thin layer on the wheel flange, even when the wheels are very warm.
Since soapstone itself is a kind of dry lubricant, the layer of dry lubricant released by the large flange pressure on the flanks of the rails is so thin and smooth that no dust or only insignificant amounts of it stick to it. Also, such a lubricating layer is not thrown away by the centrifugal force of the driving vehicle wheels and not washed off by the rain. In order to meet particularly high demands on lubricating power, e.g. B. in winding normal and narrow-gauge or streetcars, the dry lubricant described can still be added 5-20 parts by weight of paraffin and / or bees wax, and / or rosin and / or 30-150 parts by weight of lubricating oil or fat.
Instead of the soapstone shell, a hollow body made of a suitable mass, z. B. fired, large-cell clay, which is filled with the dry lubricant described and with components of the same that become liquid due to heat, e.g. B. a goudron, asphalt, paraffin, beeswax, colophony and oil containing mixture is impregnated, can be used.
