Abstract
<B>"PROCESSO PARA DESTILAçãO AZEOTRóPICA DE UM MATERIAL DE ALIMENTAçãO E PROCESSO PARA PRODUçãO DE UM áCIDO CARBOXìLICO AROMáTICO"<D>. A presente invenção trata-se de um processo aperfeiçoado para a destilação azeotrópica de um material de alimentação no qual o material de alimentação compreende um ácido carboxílico alifático, água e uma impureza de éster derivada do referido ácido carboxílico, sendo que o aperfeiçoamento compreende: (a) condução da destilação azeotrópica na presença de um veículo orgânico para produzir um componente de fase líquida que compreende o referido ácido carboxílico alifático que tem um teor de água reduzido em relação ao teor de água no material de alimentação e um componente de fase de vapor que contém o veículo, a água e a referida impureza de éster; (b) condensação do componente de fase de vapor sob condições por meio das quais o veículo orgânico e a água se condensam enquanto que uma porção substancial da impureza de éster permanece na fase de vapor; (c) recuperação da impureza de éster na fase de vapor; (d) separação do veículo orgânico e do condensado de água da etapa (b) em uma fase orgânica e uma fase aquosa; e (e) retorno da fase orgânica para a coluna de destilação.
