Patente de modelo de utilidade de um tipo de passatempo semelhante às palavras cruzadas tradicionais em que além das palavras horizontais e verticais são cruzadas em cada diagrama uma ou mais palavras em diagonal; a proposição de definições para o achamento das palavras horizontais e verticais é feita como nas palavras cruzadas tradicionais; para com a(s) palavra(s) em diagonal pode-se proceder da mesma forma ou fazer com que ela(s) resulte(m) da solução do restante do diagrama (das palavras horizontais e verticais) ou ainda fazer algo intermediário, propondo-se uma definição que seja insuficiente para o achamento por si só da(s) palavra(s); as casas correspondentes à(s) palavra(s) em diagonal devem ser diferenciadas quanto ao aspecto das casas comuns e das "casas mortas" (casas não ocupadas por letras nos diagramas)."WORDS CROSSED WITH DIAGONALS".
