Abstract

The glass plate is held and transported between two belt conveyors clamping it, so as to be slightly inclined to the vertical, with the conveyor belts, each carried on supporting rolls. The first belt is supported by pressure rolls within itself and the second belt, disposed on the other side of the glass, is similarly supported or supported by a separate flat surface so as to clamp the sheet firmly. The clamping arrangement prevents buckling while not permitting the glass sheet to be displaced by the pressure from the grindstones.
