Abstract

321,228. Evans, J. W. Aug. 4, 1928. Window frames; door jambs.-Window frames. sashes, and jambs are pressed out of sheet metal in two complementary parts which are joined by welding, riveting, &c. at i, k, to make the complete panel or member. The edges of the two parts may be overlapped and projections, beads, recesses &c. ; for anchoring to masonry, or to hold putty, or for fastenings, hinges &c. may be formed during the pressing operation, or one leaf of a hinge may be formed integral with the frame during the pressing operation by means of a separate plunger completing the formation of the hinge 13 in two operations, as shown in Figs. 12 and 13. The two parts of the frame may be stamped out of one sheet and integrally connected, Fig. 16, being subsequently brought together by bending and joined by a process such as welding.
