Abstract
The invention relates to an electronic ballast (EVG) operating at least one lamp (10), wherein a light sensor (20) for monitoring the brightness of a specific physical area (28) can be connected to said ballast. A control device (12) controls or adjusts the brightness of the lamp (10) according to the actual brightness value provided by the light sensor (20) and automatically recognizes whether the light sensor (20) is connected to the connection device (18a, 18b) when the electronic ballast is operated. If no light sensor (20) is connected, the brightness of the lamp (10) is controlled or adjusted according to externally supplied control data (Iextern).
