Abstract

The invention relates to an exterior rearview mirror with an illuminating device for a vehicle, whereby the illuminating device is comprised of a lamp element containing a high voltage discharge lamp i.e. a fluorescent tube (9) as a light source. The inventive device is also comprised of an electronic control unit which is electrically connected to the fluorescent tube (9). The fluorescent tube (9) is preferably assigned to a fiber optic body (15) into which the light is injected and in whose radiating surface forms the luminous field of the lamp element.
