Es wurde beobachtet, dass glyzerophosphorsaure Alkalien und Erdalkalien eine festigende und vorteilhaft härtende Wirkung auf die Narben der gargemachten Blössen aus- üben und auf diese Weise das Durchschlagen des Farbstoffes beim Färben auf der Narbenseite verhindern können. Ausserdem müssen die Kerben zur gleichmässigen Aufnahme des Farbstoffes von den mehligen Überresten der Weissgerbung vollkommen gesäubert sein, was durch Bestreichen mit einer verdünnten Diastaseiösung oder einem Wasserauszug aus Nlalz leicht erreicht werden kann.
In diesem Zusammenhange haben zahlreiche Versuche ergeben, dass wässerige Lösungen von glyzorophosphorsauren Alkalien bzw. Erdalkalien, vermischt mit entsprechenden Mengen von Malzauszug, Dextrin, kohlensauren Alkalien, Alkalichlortden und gegeben''nfalls mit salpetersauren Alkalien die nämlichen Eigenschaften wie gefaulter rrin besitzen und diesen daher vorteilhaft als Beizmittel zur Aufnahme der Farbstoffe ersetzen können.
