  Acid-ester nerve canal burs.

The nerve canal drills used in dental technology are generally made of steel because of the hardness of the tooth substance to be machined. Attempts have also been made to make such drills from platinum-iridium in order to prevent inflammation as a result of rust formation if a broken piece gets stuck in the root canal. The platinum iridium has not proven itself, however, because it is not as hard as steel and is also inferior to it in terms of elasticity.

According to the innovation, a nerve canal drill made of tantalum metal or alloys of tantalum metal should be used to treat the teeth, which has the advantage over the otherwise common instruments that it is not attacked by acids, is very hard and extremely tough and flexible, so that it is possible can also be used with it in curved root canals.
