Abstract
In an arrangement for delivering rainwater from a rainwater vat by means of a jet pump 2 arranged on the base of the rainwater vat 1, the motive-water connection 3 of said pump is connected to a domestic-water connection 15 and the suction chamber of said pump terminates in the rainwater vat 1. The suction chamber of the jet pump 2 is assigned a shut- off device which is designed as a slide 5 actuated by a float 7. This means, in the absence of rainwater, the suction chamber of the jet pump is closed, with the result that no water can pass out of the domestic-water line into the rainwater vat. <IMAGE>
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a device for pumping rainwater from a rain barrel by means of a jet pump arranged at the bottom of the rain barrel, the motive water connection of which is connected to a domestic water connection and the suction space of which ends in the rain barrel.
Such a device has become known from JP 100 18 384, which uses rainwater for flushing toilets. A disadvantage of this known device is, in particular, that in the absence of rainwater, the water coming out of the house water pipe emerges into the rain barrel.
In addition, the known device is essentially only suitable for flushing toilets.
The invention has set itself the goal of creating a device for conveying rainwater from a rain barrel, in which water coming from the domestic water supply can essentially not escape into the rain barrel. This is achieved in that the suction chamber of the jet pump is assigned a shut-off device which is designed as a slide actuated by a float.
In the case of a device according to the invention, the suction chamber of the jet pump is closed in the absence of rainwater, so that no water can escape from the domestic water line into the rain barrel. However, the device can still be used, in particular for watering a garden or the like.
In a practical embodiment of the invention, a return device is assigned to the suction chamber of the jet pump.
The invention is described below with reference to a device shown diagrammatically and schematically in the drawing.
According to the drawing, a jet pump 2 is arranged at the bottom of a barrel 1, which is connected to pipes extending to the outer wall of barrel 1. Hose couplings 3 are located at the two pipe ends. On the one hand, a hose can be connected between a domestic water tap 15 and the corresponding hose coupling 3, on the other hand, a hose rolled up on a hose reel 16 and provided with a spray nozzle 12 is connected.
The jet pump 2 is arranged in a plastic housing 4, which can be closed on the surface with a spring-loaded sliding door 5. A float 7, which is connected to the sliding door 5 by a cord 8, is displaceable on a guide tube 6.
If there is little or no rainwater in the barrel 1, water flows through the jet pump 2 when the house tap 15 is open, the sliding door 5 being closed. If the rainwater level in the barrel 1 rises, the float 7 on the guide tube 6 rises and opens the spring-loaded sliding door 5. The water coming from the house water pipe now sucks in the rainwater via the jet pump 2 until the sliding door 5 drops when the rainwater level falls closes again.
The minimum rainwater level can be regulated by the height of the float 7.
The maximum rainwater level in bin 1 is also given by an overflow 9.
In order to prevent the jet pump from becoming blocked, the rain barrel 1 is provided with a removable dirt grille 10.
A return device 11 assigned to the suction chamber of the jet pump 2 prevents the entire pressure of the domestic water line in the rain barrel 1 from having an effect when the spray nozzle 12 is closed.
With two blind threads 13 at the top and bottom, it is possible at any time to connect one or more rain barrels using appropriate connectors. An emptying 14 is provided for winter storage.
