Abstract
Un dominio de activación de la transcripción nuevo y potente de una proteína del factor de respuesta a etileno 98 (AtERF98) de Arabidopsis. Este dominio se ha denominado “dominio EDLL” y contiene una cantidad altamente conservada de residuos de aminoácidos presentes en todos los miembros de la familia AtERF98 de plantas, inclusive en ortólogos monocotiledóneas y eudicotiledóneas. Se demostró que el dominio EDLL era altamente activo cuando se fusionaba a factores de transcripción de plantas y levadura, y también se demostró que tiene un potencial de activación comparable al dominio de activación ampliamente usado, VP16, derivado de Herpes simplex. El dominio EDLL también era activo cuando era dirigido a un promotor de un gen por una proteína de unión a ADN específica de la secuencia o por interacciones proteína-proteína. A diferencia de otros dominios de activación conocidos, tales como VP16 y GAL4, el dominio EDLL es de tamaño relativamente pequeño, y al ser de origen vegetal, sirve como una herramienta potente de la activación de la transcripción para su aplicación en cultivos alimenticios transgénicos.
