Abstract

Se proporcionan un sistema y un método de montaje, extracción y retención de pastillas de freno en frenos de disco, tal como discos de frenos accionados por aire que se utilizan en vehículos comerciales, de forma que no se necesite utilizar dispositivos de retención de pastilla de freno separados mientras que se proporciona una retención positiva de la pastilla de freno. Una modalidad preferida incluye un montaje de calibre de freno con superficies de estribo de pastilla de freno que presentan ranuras orientadas radialmente y laterales que permiten que una pastilla de freno con proyecciones correspondientes en sus costados laterales se inserte mediante una abertura del calibre de freno en las ranuras orientadas radialmente hasta que las proyecciones de la placa de respaldo se alineen con la ranura lateral, y que el actuador del freno avance por detrás de la pastilla de freno para ubicar la pastilla de freno en una posición de funcionamiento en la cual el actuador evite que la pastilla de freno se vuelva a alinear con las ranuras orientadas radialmente hasta que el actuador se repliegue para permitir la extracción de la pastilla de freno.
