Abstract
Una fuente de iones de metales alcalinos con una velocidad moderada de liberación del ión (por ejemplo, potasio) se forma mediante un método que incluye: 1) combinar un mineral en partículas que contiene al menos uno de una estructura de silicato que soporta iones de metales alcalinos (por ejemplo, mineral de sienita) con al menos uno de un óxido y un hidróxido de al menos un metal alcalino y metal alcalinotérreo tal como hidróxido cálcico; 2) moler la mezcla de estos dos componentes opcionalmente, con agua, opcionalmente, moler los componentes secos separadamente y mezclar a partir de ese momento, opcionalmente, con agua; 3) formar una mezcla mediante la adición de agua a la mezcla sólida después de la molienda, si no se añade agua antes de la molienda; 4) exponer la mezcla a una temperatura y presión elevadas para formar un gel que incluye sílice y el metal alcalino de la estructura de silicato.
