Abstract

The gas stream is cooled and divided into a first and a second stream. The first stream is further cooled to condense it, expand it at a lower pressure, and is supplied as a feed between the two absorption or absorbent means. The second stream is expanded at a lower pressure, and supplied as a bottom feed to the bottom absorption means. A liquid distillation stream from the bottom of the bottom absorption means is heated in a heat and mass transfer medium, to demetanize its volatile components. A steam distillation stream from the upper of the heat and mass transfer means is cooled by a steam distillation stream from the upper of the upper absorption means, thus forming a condensed stream that is supplied as a feed above the superior absorption means.
