Abstract
Un método para manipular los mangos que incluye la exposición de los mismos a una atmósfera que contiene uno o más compuestos ciclopropano y que contienen los mangos en un empaquetamiento de atmósfera modificada. El método brinda un mejoramiento no previsto en mantener una maduración optima de los mangos respecto de lo que se esperaría basándose en los efectos adversos cuando se exponen los mangos al compuesto de ciclopropano en un embalaje de atmósfera modificada en ausencia de otro tipo de empaquetamiento. Reivindicación 1: Un método para manipular los mangos que incluye los pasos de: a) exponer a los mangos a una atmósfera que contiene uno o más compuestos de ciclopropano; y b) mantener los mangos en un embalaje de atmósfera modificada. Reivindicación 3: El método de la reivindicación 1, en la que el empaquetamiento de atmósfera modificada incluye una película polimérica que es perforada, en la que las perforaciones tienen un diámetro promedio de 5 mm hasta 500 mm y en la que el área total de las perforaciones en dicha película polimérica es de 50.000 hasta 6.000.000 mm cuadrados por kilogramo de mango. Reivindicación 8: El método de la reivindicación 1, en la que los mangos son cultivados cuando se encuentran aún verdes pero fisiológicamente maduros.
