Abstract
Un procedimiento para secar hez de malta, con el fin de obtener un producto con una humedad menor o igual al 15% en peso, biologicamente estable en el tiempo, con un elevado valor nutricional, rentable comercialmente y seguro desde el punto de vista ambiental, caracterizado porque consiste en dos etapas: la primera es una operacion de prensado mecánico para disminuir la humedad inicial de la hez de malta desde aproximadamente 75-80% en peso o más, hasta un valor de humedad menor al 70% en peso; el líquido obtenido es enviado a una planta de tratamiento de efluentes; el solido obtenido ingresa a la segunda etapa; dicha segunda etapa consiste en un secado térmico, que posee dos subetapas: en la primera el producto es transportado a través de una corriente de aire caliente, mientras que en la segunda es transportado por una corriente de aire a temperatura ambiente; de esta manera se logra un producto final con un contenido de humedad menor o igual al 15% en peso.
