Abstract

Un método para producir un producto basado en la fermentacion, tal como etanol, comprende fermentar un medio con contenido de azucar con levadura en presencia de un monoaldehído o dialdehído alifático o aromático un compuesto de liberacion de formaldehído, o una combinacion de los mismos, en una cantidad suficiente para reducir o controlar una poblacion bacterial en el medio con contenido de azucar. El aditivo puede permitir la reduccion o eliminacion de antibioticos para este proposito, mostrando al mismo tiempo reducciones en el porcentaje de infeccion variabilidad del proceso e interferencia con la viabilidad de la levadura.
