Abstract
Se aportan paquetes secos de fibras de vidrio cortada que se pueden utilizar en aplicaciones de moldeo por compresion e inyeccion. Los paquetes de fibra de vidrio cortada (10) se forman de fibras de vidrio individuales (12) posicionadas en una orientacion paralela sustancial. Los paquetes de fibra de vidrio cortada y seca se pueden preparar aplicando una composicion de apresto a las fibras de vidrio atenuadas (40); separando las fibras para obtener una textura de hilo deseado, cortando los hilos de vidrio humedos (42) hasta una extension discreta, y secando los hilos de vidrio humedos en un horno dieléctrico (46). En forma alternativa, los hilos de vidrio cortado y secos se pueden preparar encolando las fibras de vidrio atenuadas, pasando las fibras encoladas a través de una cámara de transferencia de calor donde el aire calentado por una cubeta se extiende dentro de la cámara de transferencia de calor para secar los paquetes de fibra de vidrio, separando los paquetes de fibra de vidrio encolada y seca para obtener una textura de hilo deseado, y cortar los paquetes secos de fibras de vidrio.
