Abstract

Dry-cut fiberglass beams can be prepared by applying a sizing compound to attenuated glass fibers by separating the fibers to obtain the desired tex, cutting the wet glass beams of a discrete length, and drying the wet glass beams in a dielectric oven, a CratecÔ oven, or in a rotary tray oven. Alternatively, the dry cut glass beams can be prepared by applying sizing to attenuated fibers, by passing the fibers with sizing through a heat transfer chamber where heated air is injected through a nozzle to dry the fiberglass beams, separating the fiberglass bundles with sizing, dried to obtain the desired tex, and cutting the dry fiberglass bundles.
