Abstract

Un motor de combustion interna que incluye un alojamiento y elementos de piston que pueden desplazarse en forma relativamente cíclica a lo largo de un eje para definir cámara de trabajo de volumen variable; medios para admitir aire y combustible a dicha cámara de trabajo para formar una mezcla inflamable después de la compresion del aire en la misma; y medios para escape de los productos de combustion de dicha cámara de trabajo; donde dicha cámara de trabajo de volumen variable incluye al menos dos sub-cámaras desplazadas en forma mutua sobre dicho eje en comunicacion con una seccion transversal a la cual el gas en una sub-cámara puede expandirse al menos en forma parcial y lateral a medida que fluye desde dicha sub-cámara dentro de la otra sub-cámara; donde dicha sub-cámara tiene un ancho medio D y un largo medio L a partir de dicha seccion transversal, y una relacion L/D es 0,9 o superior; y donde dicho medio de admision de aire incluye válvulas para entrada posicionados y dispuestos para impartir un remolino a los gases en dicha cámara alrededor de dicho eje, que incluye dicho gas que se expande en forma lateral, que fluye desde dicha sub-cámara dentro de la otra sub-cámara, por lo que se forma, durante el funcionamiento del motor, una capa límite enfriada de turbulencia en la otra dicha sub-cámara y un flujo de turbulencia en una de dichas sub-cámaras, una relacion de turbulencia de dicho flujo de turbulencia en dicha cámara que es al menos 6:1.
