Abstract
Se trata de un procedimiento destinado a reducir la expansion volumétrica de escorias de acería a través de la hidratacion y carbonatacion de los oxidos de calcio y magnesio libres presentes en la misma. El procedimiento se inicia con la preparacion de un patio de inertizacion, donde la escoria es distribuída homogéneamente hasta lograr una espesura previamente determinada, siendo posteriormente aireada y humedecida lo que acelerará las reacciones químicas de hidratacion y carbonatacion de la mayor parte de los oxidos de calcio y magnesio libres, los cuales son los principales responsables de la expansion volumétrica de la escoria de acería, tornando a la misma apta para ser utilizada en obras viales.
