Abstract

Un proceso para formar un producto de cera de hidrocarburos a partir de gas de síntesis, donde una cera Fischer-Tropsch puede ser formulada de modo que la blandura de la cera segun lo definido por el Método de Ensayo Estándar ASTM para la Penetracion de Aguja de las ceras (ASTM D- 1321) pueda ser ajustada hasta dentro de una region más preferida para aplicaciones de uso final eliminando simultáneamente impurezas indeseables, como ser oxigenados (por ejemplo, alcoholes primarios), olefinas, y niveles vestigiales de aromáticos. En un reactor de Fischer-Tropsch, la cera Fischer-Tropsch es formada a partir de gas de síntesis en una reaccion catalizada. Luego, la cera Fischer-Tropsch es sometida a un hidroprocesamiento relativamente leve sobre un catalizador de hidroisomerizacion bajo condiciones tales que no se obtiene esencialmente ninguna conversion del punto de ebullicion, aunque no obstante se producen conversiones químicas (por ejemplo, hidrogenacion y leve isomerizacion) proporcionando un producto de cera de hidrocarburos de alta pureza de dureza reducida.
