Abstract
Se describe un proceso de halogenacion oxidante que implica poner en contacto un hidrocarburo, por ejemplo, etileno, o un hidrocarburo halogenado con unafuente de halogeno, tal como cloruro de hidrogeno, y una fuente de oxígeno en presencia de un cat alizador para formar un hidrocarburo halogenado,preferiblemente un clorocarburo, teniendo un numero mayor de substituyentes de halogeno que el hidrocarburo de partida o hidrocarburo halogenado, por ejemplo,1,2-dicloroetano. El catalizador es una comp osicion novedosa que comprende cobre dispersado sobre un soporte de halogenuro de tierras rarras poroso,preferiblemente, un soporte de cloruro de tierras raras poroso. También se describe una composicion de precursor de catalizador que comprende cobr e dispersadosobre un soporte de oxihalogenuro de tierras raras poroso. Se describe el uso de halogenuro de tierras raras poroso y oxihalogenuro como materiales de soportepara componentes catalíticos.
