Abstract

The tubes are pivotally connected to the seat and one of the tubes extends and is fixedly connected to the back. As the back is tilted, the four-bar mechanism engages and lifts the seat, which thus uses the occupant's weight to counteract the recline. Also described is an adjustable armrest that can be easily raised, or lowered and, optionally, rotated in a horizontal plane. An additional aspect of the present description is a headrest that is placed in place when the chair reclines and retracts when the chair returns to its upright vertical position.
