Abstract

Se describen un quitosano altamente desacetilado obtenido a partir de biomasa microbiana, un método para obtener quitosano a partir de biomasa microbiana,y biomasa para preparar quitosano. El método incluye proveer biomasa que contiene quitina;hacer reaccionar la biomasa que contiene quitina en una solucioncáustica de más de 25 por ciento de álcali a una temperatura de reaccion mayor que 95sC durante un período de reaccion de al menos 10 horas para convertir laquitina en la biomasa oquitosano; y separar el quitosano de la solucion cáustica.
