Abstract

Se proporciona un método para identificar los loci de rasgos cuantitativos (QTL) en una poblacion de plantas definida, combinada, que comprende unamultiplicidad de familias de plantas, comprendiendo el método: 1) cuantificar un rasgo fenotípico enlas líneas tomadas como muestras de la poblacioncombinada, proporcionando de este modo un fenotipo de poblacion cuantificado; ii) identificar por lo menos un marcador genético asociado con la distribucionde un rasgo fenotípico, realizando un rastreo de un grupo de marcadores para las asociaciones con el fenotipo de la poblacion cuantificada; y iii)identificar los loci de rasgos cunatificativos sobre la base de la asociacion del rasgo fenotípico y el marcador genético. En una forma de realizacion, lapoblacion de plantas consiste en plantas diploides, ya sea híbridas o endogamas. Los rasgos fenotípicos preferidos incluyen aunque no se limitan alos mismos; el rinde de los granos, el contenido de humedad de los granos, el contenido de aceite de los granos, el vuelco de las raíces, el vuelco de lostallos, la altura de la planta, la altura de la espiga, la resistencia a las enfermedades y la resistencia a los insectos. En una forma de realizacionpreferida, los marcadores genéticos asociados con los QTL son: los polimorfismos de longitud del fragmento de restriccion, los marcadores de isozimas, lahidridacion específica de los alelos, las secuencias variables amplificadas del genoma vegetal, la replicacion de secuencia autosostenida, las repeticiones desecuencia simple y los polimorfos de longitud del fragmento arbitrario. En otra forma de realizacion que se prefiere, por lo menos dos marcadores genéticosestán asociados con los QTL y se identifican por una criba enmasa. La asociacion de los loci genéticos y el rasgo fenotípico se determina a través de modelosestadísticos específicos. En una forma de realizacion preferida, los modelos estadísticos son modelos lineales, con efectos fijos y efectos aelatorios.
