Abstract

Método de inactivación de contaminantes microbiológicos en una preparación de plaquetas de sangre humana, que comprende los pasos de: proveer plaquetas DEsangre supuestamente contaminadas con microorganismos; poner en contacto dichas plaquetashuman as con un fijador durante un período suficiente para fijardichas plaquetas; y luego secar dichas plaquetas para producir plaquetas fijadas y secadas; siendo dicho paso de contacto efectuado durante un períodosuficiente para matar dichosmicroo rganismos; y siendo dicho paso de contacto efectuado durante un período insuficiente para provocar la pérdida en lasplaquetas de las siguientes capacidades después de la reconstitución: (i) adherirse a superficies trombogénicas; (ii)no adher irse a superficiesno trombogénicas; (iii) sufrir cambios de forma (expansión) al adherirse a superficies trombogénicas; (iv) adherirse entre sí para formar un tapónhemostático al adherirse a una superficie trombogénica; y (v) liberarsus c ontenidos granulares.
