Abstract

The discrete complexes comprising the composition are of the formula (L) pMYnXmZq, in which: L is a ligand that remains bound to M under the olefin polymerization conditions, M is a group III-A element or a transition metal of the group III-B, IV-B, VB, VI-B or VIII (CAS version of the Periodic Table, Cotton & Wilkinson, 5 * edition); Y is a chelating ligand that comprises at least one atom selected from O, S, N, and P attached directly to M; X is the same as Y or is chosen from the group consisting of hydride, hydrocarbyl, substituted hydrocarbyl, halide, perchlorate, substituted sulfonate, trifluoromethanesulfonate, methanesulfonate, fluorophosphate, arylsulfonate, bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) -benzylornyl, bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) -benzyl, amido, alkoxide, tetraalkylborate, tetraphenylborate, substituted tetraphenylborate, tetrakis (pentafluorophenyl) borate, tetrakis [bis (3,5-ditrifluoromethyl) phenyl] borate, tetrafluoroborate, hexafluorophosphate or pentafluorotelurate; Z is a neutral Lewis base, N> / = 1, P> / = 1, M> / = 0 and, Q> / = 0, with the proviso that n, m, p and q are zero integer numbers that satisfy the valence of the metaly, (B) one or more Lewis acids.
