Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for å screene Lyme borreliosis og andre infeksjonssykdommer tidlig i sykdomsforløpet er vist. Det har blitt funnet at det er en dramatisk forskjell i overflatebinding i dyrkede infeksjonsmidler til naturlig forekommende polymorfonukleære- leukocyttet (PMNs) (feks nøytrofile) mellom infiserte og ikke-infiserte dyr, som kan være tilstede tidlig i sykdomsforløpet, før målbar antistoff respons. Denne bindingsresponsen kan raskt og nøyaktig bli skilt og kvatifisert ved å bruke forskjellige deteksjonsteknikker. Fremgangsmåten involverer visualisering av overflatebindingen av det dyrkede infeksjons- rnidlet til naturlig forekommende PMN for å detek- tere infeksjonen.
