Oksygenbleking av masse forbedres ved at massen før eller etter oksygenbleketrinnet behandles med et hemicellulosehydrolyserende enzym eller enzympreparat. Behandlingen ved det hemicellulosehydrolyserende enzym utføres fortrinnsvis ved en pH i området 2-10 ved 10-90 °C i et tidsrom på 10 min til 24 timer.
