Abstract
Den beskrevne oppfinnelse tilveiebringer en anordning og fremgangsmåte for desinfisering av skips ballastvann, slik som sjøvann, basert på hydrodynamisk kavitasjon. Anordningen omfatter et kavitasjonskammer med tverrsnitt slik som sirkulært eller ikke sirkulær form som rommer et enkelt eller flere kavitasjonselement(er) i form av plater av metall, keramisk materiale, plastmaterialer av varierende tykkelse plassert vinkelrett på væskens strømningsretning og posisjonert ved jevne eller ujevne avstander. Kavitasjonselementer er anordnet med enkle eller multiple åpninger av ulike tverrsnitt, sirkulære eller ikke-sirkulære, med eller uten skarpe kanter og med en fraksjon av åpent tverrsnittsareal i passasjen. Det desinfiserte vann kan være resirkulert gjennom systemet for ytterligere desinfeksjon eller frigjort fra tanken inn i de omgivende vannveier. Desinfeksjonen av sjøvann/skips ballastvann oppnås ved hydrodynamisk kavitasjon og fremgangsmåten innebærer ikke bruk av noen kjemikalier eller noen kjemisk reaksjon. Den nye anordning og fremgangsmåte er enkel, øko-vennlig og kan tilpasses til eksisterende inntaks- og utslippssystemer til ethvert skip med minimalt med modifikasjoner. Det medfører ingen fare for helse til skipets mannskap til forskjell fra kjemiske metoder og krever ingen spesiell fagdyktighet eller ytterligere menneskekraft for dens drift. Anordningen og fremgangsmåten er i stand til effektivt å sterilisere farlige organismer som er i ballastvannet lagret i en ballasttank.
