Abstract
Det er tilveiebrakt en fremgangsmåte for bruk av OTDR med et toveis optisk overføringssystem som inkluderer første og andre terminaler som er innbyrdes forbundet med i det minste første og andre enveis optiske overføringsbaner i hvilke det er minst én repeater. Fremgangsmåten begynner med sending av optiske prøvesignaler over den første optiske bane og, over den annen optiske bane, mottak av returnerte OTDR-signaler som statusinformasjon som vedrører den første optiske bane er innbefattet i. De optiske prøvesignaler og de returnerte OTDR-signaler sendes, henholdsvis mottas, ved tidsintervaller som tillater overvåking av individuelle spenn av den første optiske bane, hvilke er atskilt av repeateren eller repeaterne på en sekvensiell måte.
