Abstract

A method and apparatus for making such a rope is described, wherein the core (1) is heated and stretched so that it will be permanently extended. In a preferred embodiment, the thermoplastic core (1) is changed from solid phase to liquid phase by heating. While in liquid phase, the core material is adapted to the enclosure compartment in the surrounding thin cover plate. The rope is then cooled under tension until the core has returned to solid phase.
