Abstract

Et tau med høy stivhet og bruddstyrke produseres ved å anordne en stiv kjerne (1) og en fibertaumantel (4) som omgir kjernen og ved å endre fasetilstanden av kjernen under strekking av tauet, slik at indre hulrom mellom fibertaumantelen (4) og kjernen (1) fjernes varig. En fremgangsmåte og apparat for å fremstille slikt tau er beskrevet, hvori kjernen (1) oppvarmes og strekkes slik at den vil bli varig forlenget. I en foretrukket utførelsesform endres termoplastkjernen (1) fra fast fase til flytende fase ved hjelp av oppvarming. Mens det er i flytende fase tilpasses kjernematerialet til innkapslingsrommet i den omgivende tynne dekkplate. Tauet blir så avkjølt under strekk inntil kjernen har vendt tilbake til fast fase.
