Abstract

6-APA is prepd. by stirring penicillin soln. of pH 6-8, pref. 7-7.8, at 20-50 degrees C, pref. 38 degrees C, with suspension of penicillin acylase which is covalently bound to a copolymer of acrylamide, N,N1-methylene bisacrylamide and maleic acid anhydride, for 3-20 hrs. The mixt. neutralised and the 6-APA isolated in known manner.
