Abstract

Above the cooling bed a hollow water cooled carrier beam has two sideway hingable pneumatically operated gripper arms, which alternately encompass two parallel beam suspended hollow chambers. Rods inserted in the hollow chambers rest on an inclined surface from which they alternately released by the gripper arms, to drop onto a saw-toothed shaped cooling bed from which the bars progress onto solid longitudinal toothed rack support bars, hence to a storage space. A friction roller brake system retards bar movement on entering the cooling bed.
