Abstract
Racemic mixtures of prostaglandines of the PGE2-type. Cpds. of general formula (I): (where R1 is H, alkyl(C1-8), cycloalkyl (C3-10), aralkyl (C7-12O,phenyl opt. substd. with 1-3Cl-atoms or alkyl gps. (C1-4), or an ethyl gp. substd. at the beta-posn. with 3 Cl, 2 or 3 Br- or 1,2 or 3 I-atoms; R2 is H or alkyl (C1-8) substd. with 0-3 F-atoms; R3 and R4 are H or alkyl (C1-4); V is cis-CH=CH or -C=C-; A is alkylene (C1-10) substd. with 0-2 F-atoms) are prepd. by reacting the beta-isomer in inert liquid diluent and at 0-80 degrees C with a base, until a considerable amount of the alpha-isomer is formed. An aqs. soln. of the base used must have a pH of less than 10. The cpds. have anti-nasal blocking-, gastric acid inhibiting and blood-platelet aggregation inhibiting properties. Additional uses are in anti-hyperlipidemia, blood-additives in artificial circulation, smooth-muscle stimulation, hypotensives, inducing labour in pregnancy, regulation of the reproductive cycle, acceleration of epidermic cell growth, inhibition of abnormal lipid-mobilisation.
