THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES EXTREMELY EFFICIENT DECOMPOSITION TREATMENT AGENTS, TREATMENT CONDITIONS, AND THE LIKE FOR PRODUCING A HYDROXYL GROUP-CONTAINING MODIFIED POLYACETAL RESIN. SPECIFICALLY, THE INVENTION METHOD INCLUDES PREPARING A MODIFIED POLYACETAL RESIN HAVING AN ESTER-BONDED SIDE CHAIN (A1); PERFORMING HEAT TREATMENT OF THE MODIFIED POLYACETAL RESIN (A1) IN THE PRESENCE OF A HYDROLYSIS TREATMENT AGENT SELECTED FROM A QUATERNARY AMMONIUM COMPOUND AND A BASIC HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUND; AND HYDROLYZING THE ESTER BOND OF (A1) TO FORM THE HYDROXYL GROUP.
