Abstract

Disclosed are: a novel method for producing a lactam compound; and an intermediate for use in the production method. Specifically disclosed are: a simple method for producing a lactam compound that can be used as a therapeutic agent for diabetes or as an intermediate for the production of the therapeutic agent, which can be conducted under mild and safe conditions; and an intermediate which is useful for the production method.
