Abstract

La invencion se refiere a un metodo para imprimir con una impresora de inyeccion de tinta que utiliza tintas de la misma tonalidad pero de diferente saturacion. El metodo utiliza un solo arreglo de "Dither" para controlar la aplicacion de la impresion de la tinta, preferentemente una tinta de alta resistencia y una tinta diluida para lograr la impresion de escala de grises. El arreglo de "Dither" tiene valores de umbral definidos para un subconjunto de valores del rango de valores de pixel de un area de imagen, preferentemente 50% de la misma, generalmente correspondientes a los valores de umbral entre 0 y 127 inclusive. Los valores de pixel se determinan encontrandose dentro o fuera del rango de arreglo de umbral. Consecuentemente, un punto de tinta se imprime o no utilizando ya sea la tinta diluida o la tinta de alta resistencia. Si el valor de pixel se encuentra dentro del rango de arreglo de umbral entonces se compara el valor de pixel con el valor de umbral de la celda sobrepuesta al arreglo de "Dither". En donde el valor de pixel es mayor que el valor de umbral correspondiente, se imprime un punto de tinta utilizando tinta diluida, de lo contrario no se imprime el punto. Si se determina que el valor de pixel se encuentra fuera del rango de arreglo de umbral, se resta un valor predeterminado del valor de pixel dando como resultado un valor de pixel de diferencia. El valor de pixel de diferencia se compara despues con el valor de umbral de la celda sobrepuesta del arreglo de "Dither". Si el valor de pixel de diferencia es mayor que el valor de umbral correspondiente se imprime un punto de tinta de alta resistencia, de lo contrario se imprime un punto de tinta diluida.
