Abstract
The external mirror pair includes left and right holders for the mirrors (4, 5), left and right casings, two identical carrier plates for the casings, two identical mirror fittings for the casings, which in their neutral positions (4, 5) enclose specified angles with the direction of travel, and two identical intermediate pieces between the carrier plates and the mirror fittings enclosing other specified angles in their neutral positions (4', 5').
Description
Rear-view mirrors with right and left adaptations
Description of the invention
. The invention relates to a left-hand and right-hand rear-view mirror for commercial vehicles, in accordance with claim 1. As a rule, in the case of commercial vehicles, a left-hand rear-view mirror is mounted in conjunction with a rear-view mirror right manual. Due to the complexity of the modern rear-view mirror systems, especially as regards electrically adjustable mirrors, the different components are necessary for each of the left and right side external mirrors. This multiplicity originates high costs. The exterior mirrors for commercial vehicles, for example, those disclosed in EP-O-500 510. It is the purpose of the present invention to make available a left and a right exterior mirror, in which the essential components of mirror can be used for the left outside mirror as well as the right one. This purpose will be achieved by the features of claim 1. REF .: 31209 In accordance with the invention, a support plate is made available, which, although it lacks a special transition piece mounted thereon for a mirror assembly , still provides a zero position for a driver who sits, theoretically, in the middle of the driver's cab. The transition piece is installed now, on an identical support plate on the left mirror as well as on the right mirror, in such a way that the zero position of any mirror, is inclined at a "delta" angle in a positive direction, this it is, in the sense of the hands of the clock. Because the support plate remains unchanged, outside of which once a multitude of support plates once stood, now only one support plate comprises a "left" and a "right" support plate. Expressed in a different way, it is possible to change the mounting procedure on two identical support plates, to allow a design of the support plate to serve for the right and left mirrors. In this way, the number of different components is reduced. As a further advantage of the equipment for the invention, the transition piece is made cuneiform, the slope of which is the angle "d". According to another embodiment of the invention, the transition piece itself has elements to be mounted on either the left mirror or the right mirror. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, a left frame and, in the same way in the right housing, a right frame is installed in the left housing. By means of separate design of frameworks and housings, assembly of the complete external mirror becomes easier. Through the different frames for the left and right mirrors, the different zero position of the mirror assembly on the left and right mirrors is optically compensated. According to yet another advantageous device in the invention, the support for the two outer mirrors includes, respectively, two supporting arms, which are fixed on the side of the vehicle by means of a pressurized fastener and are joined to the mirror housing by means of a clamping device, seat in conical shape. By means of the clamping device, of the seat in a conical shape, a self-centering effect is achieved and the tight fastening is always ensured. This reduces the vibration. By means of the pressure clamp of the two arms in the vehicle, a double securing is made which also ensures a tight connection. The additional details, features and advantages of the invention are apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment, with the help of the drawings.
Shown in Fig. 1 is a schematic presentation for explaining the basic concepts of the present invention, Fig. 2 an example embodiment of the transition piece between the support plate and the mirror assembly, Fig. 3 a graphic representation of this transition piece on the support plate for a right mirror, that is, the mirror on the passenger side, Fig. 4 a graphic representation of this transition piece on the support plate for a left mirror, that is, on the driver's side, Fig. 5 the upper and lower support arms with the conical seating fixture for mounting on the housing and the press fastener on the vehicle, Fig. 6 two support arms mounted on the support plate, Fig. 7 the frame and the housing in the combined condition, Fig. 8 the frame alone and Fig. 9 a perspective presentation of an example embodiment of the exterior mirror in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 1 schematically shows the basic concept of the present invention. Therefore, in the schematic representation, a driver's cab 2 is illustrated, as well as an external left and a right mirror 4 and 5. The light beams 6 from an object (not shown) behind the vehicle collide with the mirrors 4 and 5 and reflected to a position of the actual conductor 8. The light beams 6 are reflected by the mirrors 4 and 5 to a position of the dummy conductor 12. So that the light from the object behind the vehicle is reflected to the position of the real conductor 8, the mirrors 4 and 5 must be found in a zero position, which are designated by the reference numbers 41 and 5 '. Belonging to the position of the fictitious conductor 12, there are the zero positions 4"and 5" of the mirrors 4 and 5. If one measures the zero position in relation to the light beams 6, then the zero position 4"carries the value ey the zero position 5"the value -e. That is, the zero positions 4"and 5" are symmetric with 'relation to the incident light beam 6. To obtain the zero positions 4' and 5 'for the position of the actual conductor 8, the zero positions 4"and 5" must lean near the angle d, so that for the zero position 4 'the angle of the input beam to the mirror falls in e + d, and for the zero position 5', the corresponding angle is -e + d. The asymmetric zero positions 4 'and 5' can be obtained by means of a corresponding assembly of a transition piece 14, as shown in Fig. 2, on a support plate 16, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4
As it could be seen from Figs. 3 and 4, the support plate 16 first comprises the "right" conical retaining means respectively 18-1 as well as 18-2 for the mounting of the support arms 22, 24 on the "right" outer mirror and second, the "left" conical retaining means 20-1 and 20-2 for the mounting of the support arms 22 and 24, which refer to the "left" outer mirror. In FIG. 5 the upper and lower support arms 22 and 24 are shown, which are displayed for mounting to the vehicle, respectively a press bracket 26 or 28, and for mounting on the support plate 16 respectively the means of conical clamping 30 and 32. The frame and the housing of the left outer mirror are shown in Fig. 7. In Fig. 8, the frame of the driver's mirror, that is, the left mirror, is shown. Fig. 9 shows a perspective drawing of the complete left exterior mirror. It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known by the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is the conventional one for the manufacture of the objects to which it relates.
