Abstract
La invencion se relaciona con un proceso para fabricar un catéter para insercion en una cavidad corporal, por ejemplo, del tipo utilizado para insercion en la uretra. El catéter tiene una porcion de punta proporcionada con una o varias aberturas de drenaje o de descarga adyacentes al extremo libre el cual se va a insertar en la cavidad corporal, y el exterior del catéter se proporciona con un revestimiento. El proceso comprende las etapas de moldeo por inyeccion de una porcion de punta separada del catéter, la porcion de punta incluye un lumen interior y las aberturas de drenaje/descarga, y los diámetros interior y exterior de la punta corresponden con los de un tubo estándar, formando un extremo del tubo estándar y un extremo de la porcion de punta para conformarse entre si para una operacion de union subsecuente, y unir la punta al tubo estándar en una operacion de union, en el que el revestimiento se aplica al tubo estándar antes de que se lleve a cabo la operacion de union. La invencion también se relaciona con un catéter fabricado por el proceso.
