Abstract
La presente invencion proporciona un vidrio de color azul utilizando una composicion de base de vidrio standard de sosa-cal-sílice y, adicionalmente, hierro y cobalto como materiales absorbentes de la radiacion solar y colorantes. Concretamente, el vidrio de color azul incluye aproximadamente un 0,53 a un 1,1% en peso de hierro total, preferiblemente aproximadamente un 0,6 a un 0,85% en peso, y aproximadamente 5 a 40 PPM de CoO, preferiblemente aproximadamente 15 a 30 PPM, y una transmitancia luminosa de al menos 55%. Si se desea, la composicion puede incluir hasta aproximadamente 100 PPM de Cr2O3. La razon redox para el vidrio de la presente invencion se mantiene entre aproximadamente 0,25 y 0,35, preferiblemente entre aproximadamente 0,28 y 0,33.
