Abstract

Un anillo de pistón se fabrica a partir de una aleación que contiene cobre. Este material permite que el anillo de compresión superior de un pistón se mueva más cerca de la corona de pistón, lo que reduce el volumen de hendidura y reduce la tendencia a pre-ignición. El avance de temporización de ignición puede realizarse al instalar los anillos y al permitir la temporización de avance de ECU como lo permiten los sensores, incrementando la eficiencia. También, son posibles pistones más cortos y bielas más largas. Los pistones más cortos reducen la masa oscilante en el motor y las bielas más largas reducen la pérdida por fricción causada por las fuerzas radiales que empujan al pistón contra el revestimiento. Al reducir el volumen y la tendencia a pre-ignición se incrementa la eficiencia del motor.
