Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para preparar 3-metilciclopentadecano-1,5-diol (I) por hidrogenólisis de 14-metil-16,17,18-trioxatriciclo[10.3.2.1]octadecano (II). (ver Fórmulas) La invención también se refiere a un proceso para preparar 3-metilciclopentadecano-1,5-diol es un diol macrocíclico que puede servir como precursor para un odorante macrocíclico, tales como muscona y muscenona.
