Abstract
Debido a que los ojos humanos se vuelven menos sensibles a las áreas oscuras alrededor de áreas muy brillantes en un video (conocido como enmascaramiento de brillo), podemos utilizar cuantificación más burda en tales áreas oscuras. Considerando la distorsión extra que los ojos humanos pueden tolerar en un bloque con enmascaramiento de brillo, se puede calcular una relación de cuantificación para el bloque. El parámetro de cuantificación para el bloque se puede entonces escalar ascendentemente utilizando la relación de cuantificación para formar un parámetro de cuantificación ajustado. En una modalidad, el parámetro de cuantificación ajustado se puede derivar en el lado del decodificador, y por lo tanto, no es necesaria la transmisión de la información de relación de cuantificación. En particular, podemos estimar la luminancia de un bloque actual con base en un bloque predicho y descuantificar el coeficiente de DC, y utilizar la luminancia de bloques vecinos causales y la luminancia estimada del bloque actual para estimar el parámetro de cuantificación ajustado.
