Abstract

La invención se refiere a un proceso para la preparación de un copolímero de poliamida semi-aromática semi-cristalina (Co-PA) que tiene una temperatura de fusión (Tm-Co-PA) de al menos 300°C, que comprende los pasos de (a) preparar una primera poliamida (A) semi-aromática semi-cristalina que tiene una temperatura de fusión (Tm-A) de al menos 310°C; y que consiste de unidades de repetición derivadas de 45 - 50% en mol de ácido tereftálico; 47.5 - 50% en mol de diamina; y 0 - 5% en mol de uno o más de otros componentes que contienen grupos amina y/o ácido; el % en mcl es con relación a la cantidad molar total de los componentes que contienen grupo amina y/o ácido; y en donde la poliamida (A) se preparar por un proceso que comprende polimerización de estado sólido directa de una sal de diamina-ácido dicarboxílico del ácido tereftálico y la diamina; (b) proporciona una poliamida (B), es - una poliamida amorfa que tiene una temperatura de transición vítrea (Tg-B) por abajo de Tm-A, o - una segunda poliamida semi-cristalina que tiene una temperatura de fusión (Tm-B) por abajo de Tm-A, o - una combinación de la poliamida y la segunda poliamida semi-cristalina; (c) calentar y mezclar por fusión la poliamida (A) y poliamida (B), obteniendo de esta manera un material fundido de polímero miscible con una temperatura (T-de fusión) por arriba de Tm-A; y (d) enfriar el material fundido a una temperatura por abajo de la temperatura de solidificación del material fundido, obteniendo de esta manera un copolímero de poliamida semi-aromática semi-cristalina sólida.
